I think one of our greatest attributes as a couple (as well as one of our weakness, perhaps) is that J and I live in the moment. Nobody can ever say that we aren’t spontaneous.
And the proof of that is right here:
Meet our newest addition, a four-month-old Maltipoo male puppy from the Humane Society, who we rescued last night. I know, I know, we said weren’t going to seriously start looking for a dog until we were settled in our new house, but as I was closing some windows I had opened in Firefox yesterday, I came across Petfinder.com and decided to take a quick peek. And there was our little pup, a new addition to the Humane Society, and I just knew we had to meet him.
At the Humane Society, J and I questioned whether it was REALLY a good idea to bring him home now (probably not)… but when the volunteered asked us for our final decision (there were three other couples wanting to meet him after us), we simultaneously said, “Yes!”
We’re now accepting name suggestions and crate training tips! Puppy needs a name–and to be housebroken.
adorable! jealous! LOVE the bandana
Check out the Dog Whisperer. His tips are smart and they work! Prioritizing exercise, discipline and affection is really important as well as showing him you’re the “pack leader.” Poodles are super smart so I’m sure he’ll do great.
Congrats PJ!!!!! SUCH a cutie 🙂 We have LOTS of dog advice….Vader was an extremely difficult dog to train. There is one really great book called Good Owners, Great Dogs (Brian Kilcommons). We also HIGHLY suggest getting a trainer….get recommendations from your vet. The Cesar Millan books are good too (Dog Whisperer).
Lisa, his Halloween bandanna was a parting gift from the Humane Society 🙂
Martina, I’m a huge fan of the Dog Whisperer! Even before I had a dog I loved watching it. Maybe now I’ll have to check out his books, too. Thanks for the idea!
Ashley, First of all, Vader is the CUTEST name! I’m going to see if our library has a copy of Good Owners, Great Dogs. We’re also going to enroll in a puppy class at the Humane Society, which will hopefully be helpful in his training.
