Omaha made it into today’s New York Times because of its embarrassing misuse of the newly enacted Safe Haven law. Although the law is meant to provide protection for unwanted infants so that they don’t end up in dumpsters by terrified mothers, Nebraska decided to extend protection to children up to 19.
And that’s why you have a single father of 10 dropping off nine of his children, ages 1 to 17, at an Omaha hospital last week.
Something is not right here.

It was an odd story, but how lucky that he had an option, rather than setting the house on fire with all the kids sleeping or something.
